Intro to the mentor program

Every day we work to create not only Norway’s largest – but also best mentoring program. Here you can see a bit more about how we do this.

🔑 Key Information

💬 One-to-one guidance: You get a personal mentor who will support you on your path toward a relevant job. Through regular meetings, you will work together on what you need to increase your chances of employment.

💼 Same field of expertise: We try to match you with a mentor from your own field, or a related one. We also have many mentors with extensive experience in HR, management, and guidance who can be excellent mentors even if they don’t share your exact field.

🌱 1–4 meetings per month: You decide where and when to meet, and we help you plan productive meetings. We aim to connect you with a mentor who has approximately the same amount of available time as you do.

📆 Six-month duration: Over six months, you will work strategically on strengthening your job-seeking profile and skills. If you haven’t secured a job by the end of the program, you should at least be much closer.

🖐🏾 Mentors are volunteers or from partner companies: The mentors are volunteers, which means they are especially committed to supporting you on your way toward employment. Many of them also come from our partner companies.

🐘 Norway’s largest mentoring program: With nearly 200 matches per year, we are by far Norway’s largest mentoring program for highly educated immigrants. This means that, in addition to your personal mentor, you are also part of a large professional network and have access to plenty of networking opportunities, courses, resources, and other benefits.

🔎 Find your own mentor through self-matching: In addition to us trying to match you with a mentor, you can also try to find your own mentor through our self-matching tool.

‼️ Note: We have more job seekers than mentors and cannot guarantee that we will find a mentor for everyone.

📊 Results

The figure at the top right shows the outcomes at the end of the mentoring program. Within six months after completing the program, the share of participants who find relevant employment increases to around 50%.

‼️ Even though the program does not in any way guarantee employment, we clearly see that job seekers who take the program seriously, are proactive, and use their mentor actively have a much higher chance of success.
