What does it take to get a job in the public sector in Norway? Why can it be extra challenging for foreigners to get into this sector?

This session will have two parts, one featured presentation by Anne Solheim and then a networking session with guest speakers with experience working in the public sector.

Part 1: The hiring process in the public sector (20 minutes)

• Anne Solheim will walk us through how hiring processes in the public sector look like, the biggest challenges for foreigners and give us advice on how to overcome them.

Part 2: Networking with guest speakers (30 minutes)

• Guest speakers will present themselves (2-3 minutes each).

• We will divide into break-out rooms and change after 10 minutes (20 minutes).

• Anne Solheim is a senior adviser in economic development at the department of culture and economic development in Oslo kommune.

• Rigmor Abel has extensive experience as HR Director in the public and private sectors in Troms and Svalvard.

• Natalia Turcanu‍ works in project management for the Ullensaker Kommune.

• Grete Løchen former Norwegian ambassador for Vietnam & Laos and Sri Lanka.

• Dimitris Polychronopoulos‍ researcher focused on migrant entrepreneurship. ‍
