Sammen om en jobb has the country's largest mentoring program for job seekers with advanced education or skills and an immigrant background.
We matched more than 160 mentor-mentee pairs in 2024, but we want to match many more! We’ve seen that our mentoring program delivers excellent results, both for individuals and for society. In June 2025, we therefore launched the “self-matching” feature on our digital platform, with technical support from Accenture.
When asked why we want to make it possible for job seekers and mentors to find each other without the help of a coordinator, SAJO founder Erlend Skarsgard Nyheim responds:
“We do this both to ensure faster connections and to ensure better connections by letting participants take control themselves.”
How does self-matching work in the mentoring program, step by step?
Before you can access the self-matching feature, you must apply for a spot in the mentoring program and have your application approved by one of our coordinators. All members of Sammen om en jobb can apply for a spot in the mentoring program. The criteria are:
● You came to Norway from another country on your own
● Higher education (minimum bachelor's degree)
● Looking for a " relevant job " in Norway
● Norwegian at least at level B1 or English at least at level B2
● A residence permit in Norway valid for at least 9 months from now
You can find everything you need to know about the mentoring program here.
Once you've been approved for a mentor match with us, you'll gain access to the self-matching feature by logging in to the digital platform.
Next, follow these steps:
Filter the database to find a suitable match.
Send a match request (Person A).
Response to a matching request (Person B).
Schedule an introductory meeting—either online or in person—to discuss your background, your expectations for the mentoring program, and to determine whether you’d like to work together for 6 months.
Approve or reject the connection suggestion on the digital platform (Person A + B).
