WHY WORK TOGETHER?
Untapped Potential in the Norwegian Workforce
A great many immigrants and refugees with higher education are unable to put their skills to use in Norway. At the same time, the Norwegian workforce needs experience, perspectives, and knowledge from around the world.
Immigrants and refugees who come to Norway face many barriers, such as language, a lack of social networks, a lack of knowledge about the Norwegian job market, cultural differences, and prejudice.
The result is a vast untapped potential, where people who could have contributed valuable knowledge, new perspectives, and international experience are left on the outside.
Through a partnership with Sammen om en jobb , companies gain access to highly skilled professionals with international experience, while their own employees develop skills in leadership, communication, and diversity.
Access to the Mentoring Program
Through the mentoring program, your employees have the opportunity to grow and practice leadership and communication skills by contributing to a project that over 95% view as meaningful and motivating.
You'll also gain access to a unique network of highly qualified international candidates and other partners.
The partnership is a concrete and measurable initiative that contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Sustainability and Reporting
Social sustainability is about the well-being of people in a society and whether they have equal opportunities to influence their own lives and the society in which they live (UN Association).
Sammen om en jobb contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals 5, 8, 10, 11, and 17.
We have established procedures for collecting data and results from the mentoring program, and as a partner, you’ll have access to figures that you can use in your own sustainability reports.

Feedback from Partners: How have others experienced the collaboration?
“We have hired two mentees from the mentoring program, not because they are immigrants, but because they are talented.”
-Kjell Andre Engen, President, Wilhelmsen Ships Service
““When many people contribute a little, together we can make a big difference for society. That’s sustainability.”
-Kjersti Næss, Global Lead for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging at Hydro
“Differences make us more creative, collaborative, and innovative.”
-Astrid Sundberg, Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Oda

Voices of mentees: What has working with a mentor meant to them?
“My mentor gives feedback so well and to the point, and it’s always well-intentioned. It helped me see things more clearly without making me defensive.”
“The most important things my mentor has given me are self-confidence and information. I was completely lost. My mentor has helped me understand my own abilities, expertise, and skills—and how I can use them.”
“My mentor helped me figure out things that weren’t directly related to the job search—not just a resume and cover letter. Practical matters like meeting agendas, how to communicate effectively, and understanding expectations in the job market.”
Worley Rosenberg, 2024–2025
In 2024, we matched 12 mentor-mentee pairs at Worley Rosenberg. The results were positive, and four candidates found jobs during the program period. The following year, we planned to match 10 new mentors. Nearly 100 employees volunteered.

THE MENTOR ROLE AS A PLATFORM FOR DEVELOPMENT
“This is a win-win situation. We view the opportunity to serve as mentors at your organization as a platform for our employees’ professional development.”
From an HR perspective, the role of a mentor is a training ground: you build relationships and trust, collaborate with others, and develop your leadership skills. You also gain a deeper understanding of the company culture and are challenged to question your own assumptions.
"When I look back on my six months as a mentor, I feel, above all, humbled. You get so close to another person and get to be a part of their journey—with its ups, downs, and emotional reactions. It’s impossible not to be affected by that."
May Brit Johnsen, Vice President of People
“Ireally appreciate what Sval does and the way the company is involved in the mentor program. My mentor is taking time out of his day to meet with me and follow up with me, and they’re also opening up their offices and giving presentations. It’s amazing. I’ve applied for a job there now because I’m familiar with the company, and I’d love to work there .”

Employer Branding
Mentees in our network almost without exception say that they themselves would consider working at our partner companies. They feel that the partners “walk the talk” by getting involved in a specific project. We see that partner companies are perceived as attractive employers among this group of candidates.
Sammen om en jobb We are also a prominent player in the field of diversity and inclusion. We are invited to give presentations and lectures; we participate in conferences and panel discussions. We regularly organize our own events for collaborative learning and networking. Partner organizations and mentors are always invited to participate in our events, and we do our very best to draw on experiences, data, and stories from our partnerships when we ourselves participate in public discussions.
Here are a few examples:
Sval Energi's film was shown at NAV's integration conference in 2024 as an example of the results that collaboration on social sustainability can yield.
Partners and mentors were invited to participate in a research project funded by the Nordic Council in 2023 and in a panel discussion on strategically attracting and retaining talent already living in Norway during Oslo Innovation Week in 2025.
Worley Rosenberg's mentoring program was used as a case study in a conference presentation at Families in Global Transition on dual careers and how companies can support the careers of accompanying partners in 2026
DUAL CAREERS AND SPOUSE SUPPORT
If you hire internationally, you know that accompanying partners and any children can be crucial to the long-term success of the hire.
As a partner company, you can give dual-career partners access to our mentoring program and career resources.
We are currently developing a program specifically for dual-career partners, based on our expertise and experience.
Please contact us to find out how this might work for your business.
A job offer for two people—or at least career support for a spouse or partner accompanying the employee—can be a deciding factor in whether the job offer is accepted.
Both global studies and data from Sammen om en jobb show that there are still more women than men who move without a job lined up, so this is also a matter of gender equality and opportunities.
When a partner and family settle in, it also becomes easier for the employee to succeed at work.
What does the research say, what do your employees and their partners have access to, and how do we go about this in practical terms?
