All members of Sammen om en jobb can apply to be matched with a mentor. This guide summarizes the criteria you must meet to qualify for the mentoring program and the process for being matched with a mentor.
Even if your application is approved, we cannot guarantee that we will find a mentor for you. This depends on both your requirements and expectations, and, not least, which mentors we have available. The process can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months.
If you have questions about how to apply, or if you have any questions during the process, please contact us at support@sammenomenjobb.no or reach out to your local coordinator. You can find contact information for staff at Sammen om en jobb here: https://www.sammenomenjobb.no/om-oss
Note: You must meet the criteria to be considered. You may not qualify right now, but you might in the future 😊 You are therefore welcome to apply at any time. We review applications once a month.

Introductory meeting between you and your mentor
1. Introductory video for the mentoring program, the quiz, and the code of ethics
You can find the video and the quiz here. You can accept our Code of Conduct at the very end of the quiz.
IMPORTANT: To be accepted into the mentoring program, you must answer all the questions correctly and agree to our guidelines. You can retake the quiz as many times as you need.
The introductory video for the mentoring program explains the requirements and expectations of the mentor program. You can find the quiz here or at the bottom of the video page.
2. Apply for the mentoring program through the platform
Applying to the mentoring program is quite simple. To do so, you must log in to the digital platform, go to your homepage, and click “Apply for mentor.”
Next, fill out the application form for the mentoring program with your information and preferences.
3. Get "ready to match"
After you have completed the application, a coordinator will review your profile and confirm that you meet the criteria and requirements to be matched with a mentor. The coordinator will also verify that we have your resume and cover letter.
To be eligible for matching, you must:
a) Complete your profile on the digital platform
To complete your profile, you must log in to the digital platform, open “My Profile,” and fill out all the information about yourself and your matching preferences.
b) Upload your resume and cover letter to the platform
It is very important that you upload your resume and a cover letter. We need these for the matching process, as we try to find mentors with a professional background similar to yours. You can only be accepted into the mentoring program if you have uploaded your documents to the platform.
The cover letter should be 300–500 words long and address the following:
What are your career goals, and what do you hope to achieve through the mentoring program?
Hvilke skritt har du allerede tatt for å finne relevant arbeid i Norge?
What do you bring to the table? How can you make a positive contribution to your mentor and the other participants?
Submission. To submit your resume and cover letter, log in to your profile → click on your name in the upper-right corner → click on “My Profile” and then on “Upload Documents.”
We review the applications at the beginning of each month, and you can expect a response within a couple of weeks.
4. Wait for potential mentors, find a mentor on your own (self-matching), or suggest potential new mentors
To proceed, your application must be reviewed and approved by a coordinator. You will then receive a confirmation email, and the coordinator will begin looking for a mentor for you.
While your mentor is looking for a mentor for you, we recommend that you also try “Self-Matching.” You’ll have access to the “Self-Matching” tab on the digital platform.
All members are assigned a coordinator based on their region (the coordinators are listed below). The coordinator is responsible for following up with you at Sammen om en Jobb and is your primary point of contact for questions related to membership, our network, and the mentoring program.
There are three ways to find a mentor:
a) Through your coordinator
Your coordinator will start looking for a mentor as soon as you are accepted into the mentoring program. The coordinator will contact you when they find a match for you.
In the meantime, we recommend that you use the other two methods to find a mentor, as this can shorten the wait time for a match.
b) Via self-connection
This is a new feature on the platform that lets you view available mentors and send them a request.
You can submit one request per month.
Please note that not all mentors are listed here. Your coordinator has access to a more comprehensive list of mentors.
"See the guide to self-connection here.”
c) By recruiting a new mentor whom you suggest
You can send your coordinator a list of potential mentors. We will then contact them and try to recruit them as mentors for you.
Please note that you should not recommend individuals who are involved in an ongoing hiring process for which you yourself have applied.
Remember: Your mentor will never stop looking for a mentor for you. However, we recommend that you use the other two methods to shorten the wait.

5. Coordination Meeting
The introductory meeting is an initial meeting with a potential mentor where you get to know each other, discuss your goals, and assess whether this would be a good match. Read more about the introductory meeting here.
Your coordinator will schedule a meeting or call so you can get to know each other. You will then continue the conversation using this agenda and these resources.
After the matching meeting, both you and your mentor must decide whether you want to be paired. Let your coordinator know how the meeting went and what you would like to do. If you and your mentor want to continue, the mentoring program will begin.
