As a member of Sammen om en jobb’s Learning and Networking Community, you get access to weekly courses and events, 80+ tools and resources, 20+ groups to meet others and get answers to specific questions, as well as Norway's largest network of mentors and highly skilled job seekers. If you use the community correctly, it can take you a long way to a relevant job, but with so much functionality it can be difficult to know where to start. In this article, you get ten tips on what you can do to get the most out of the community.
1. Register in the digital platform 👩🏿💻
The digital platform gives you an overview of everything you need to know. If you are not a member yet, you can become one by registering. See more info on how to access the platform here.
2. Join relevant groups 📌
Once you have entered the digital platform, go to “Groups”. Make sure you select “All active groups” in the top right. Join the groups that are relevant to you, and select your preferred settings to ensure you don’t miss out on important tips and information.
3. Say Hi! 👋
Find the group that suits you best and introduce yourself. Write a short text about who you are and what type of job you are looking for. You can also upload your CV or VideoCV. Beyond introducing yourself, you can also use the groups to:
Ask questions about the job seeking process
Share tips or tools to help others
Plan a meetup
Anything else related to job seeking or mentoring
4. Update your profile ✏️
When you have introduced yourself, other participants may want to know more about who you are, what your background is. Make sure your profile is up to date by clicking on your name in the upper right corner, and then “My profile”.
5. Join events 🗓
We have weekly events for job seekers and monthly tailor made events for mentors. You will find an overview of upcoming events here, or under "Events" in the digital platform.
6. Start an online course 🎓
If the time or topic of our events does not suit you, our online courses are a good alternative. The online courses can be found under "Learning" in the platform and contain 80+ resources, distributed over 24 modules. Together, these cover most of what you need as a new job seeker in Norway, as a first time mentor, or as someone wanting to speed up their language learning.
7. Check out our member benefits 🎁
Through collaborations with other organisations and companies we are able to provide a wide array of other benefits. See our benefits for job seekers and mentors.
8. Contact someone 💬
Under "Network" you can see other participants who are part of the community. Maybe there is someone it would be useful to get to know? You can send a message to other participants by clicking on your name at the top right corner, and then "messages". Remember that not everyone uses the platform actively or has the same amount of time. If you don't get an answer, try someone else.
9. Sign up for the newsletter ✉️
Once a month we send out a newsletter with the latest news, useful tips, and an overview of everything that is happening in the future. You can sign up for the newsletter here, and unsubscribe whenever you want.
10. Try the self matching
If you’ve been accepted into the mentor program, you can find your own match through self-matching. If you’re not yet part of the mentor program, or you don’t find any relevant matches in the self-matching component, have a look at our guide for the mentor program.
11. Adjust your settings ⚙️
Do you receive too many emails and notifications from the digital platform? Or do you want to be notified more frequently? You can tailor-make your settings by clicking on your own name at the top right corner, and then "settings".
