Under self-matching you can find your own match to speed up the process or have more control over the outcome. Here is the guide.
✉️ Step 1: Send a Match Request (Person A)
Log in to the platform and go to “Self-Matching.”
Use filters to find someone who matches your needs.
Tip: Expand your search if no one appears.
Tip: Click on a person’s name to view their full profile.
To send a request, check the box next to their profile picture and click the green “Send Request” button.
Note: You can only send one request at a time.
The other person has one week to respond
💬 Step 2: Respond to a Match Request (Person B)
Only for those who receive a request.
You’ll get an email and in-platform notification. Log in and go to “Self-Matching” to view the request.
Choose one of two options:
a. Yes – Accept and schedule a non-binding matching meeting with the other person.
b. No – Decline the match. Both of you can send new requests after a few days.
Tip: Being open to being matched with someone with a slightly different field can speed up the process of finding a match, and lead to lots of learning for both.
👋 Step 3: Hold the Matching Meeting (Both)
This is an informal meeting to see if you want to be matched. Meet in person or online.
Contact info is available under “Self-Matching”, along with a guide on how to hold a matching meeting.
Meet within two weeks—we’ll follow up if we don’t hear from you.
You don’t need to decide right away—indicate your choice in the platform afterwards.
✅ Step 4: Confirm the Match (Both)
After the meeting, go to “Self-Matching” to confirm:
First click “Yes” to confirm the meeting happened.
Then choose Yes or No to the match itself.
If either of you says No, a coordinator will help you move forward with a new match.
If both say Yes, the match is confirmed automatically. You’ll get a confirmation email and should begin your mentoring journey promptly.
