Expanding your network

Build and activate your network together with the group. You’ll practice introductions, explore new connections, and learn how networking can open doors to hidden opportunities.

Meeting guide

📌 Aim: Build confidence and skills in networking and identify concrete people to connect with.

✏️ Preparation: (1-2 hours)

• Map out your current and potential network using this exercise.

• Prepare a short introduction of yourself (30-60 seconds).

💬 Agenda: (2-3 hours)

1. Check-inn (10 min): Any updates, doubts or topics for the end?

2. Map your network (45 min): Those who have done it present the network model. The rest give feedback and discuss: 

   1. Which relations should you prioritise, and how can you strengthen them? 

   2. How can you make new contacts and how do you reach out? 

3. Pitch training (45 min): Those who wish pitch themselves. Provide feedback on:

   1. Is it brief and straight to the point?

   2. Is the message and the intentions clear? 

   3. Is it easy to understand the person’s competence and how it is relevant? 

   4. Does it seem boastful or too modest?  

   5. If in Norwegian: Is the grammar correct and the terminology understandable?

4. Connecting (15 min): Think through your own network and if you know someone who might be relevant to connect with anyone else in the job network. This is of course completely voluntary.

5. Finalization (10 min): Go through the next steps and plan the upcoming meeting. 

6. Check-out (5 min): Share one concrete thing you’ll do to expand your network.
