Facilitating a job network should not take more than 1-2 hours preparation per meeting. In return, you play an important role in helping others advance their careers in Norway, while simultaneously advancing your own. Leading a job network also provides valuable experience, and can be a strong entry on your CV. As a network facilitator, you have the following 2-3 tasks:
Send out practical information
Facilitate the sessions and moderate the discussions
Recruit members for your job network (Sammen om en jobb will often do this for you)
Send out practical information
It is your responsibility to make sure everyone in your network knows when and where the to meet. This includes:
Discuss with the group to find a suitable time (Tip: Decide this when you are gathered, or use Doodle to find a date over email).
Send a calendar invite to everyone (Tip: Find a fixed time and send out calendar invites for all eight sessions.)
Send a reminder email 1-2 days before (Tip: Link to the correct session so that people know what to prepare)

Facilitate the sessions
We provide very simple and practical guidelines for each session, which means that facilitating the sessions is not supposed to be much more effort than being an ordinary participant. Your most important task is to moderate the discussions to ensure everyone gets roughly the same space to talk and that personal feedback is evenly divided among the participants.
Spend a few minutes reading through the material for each session, and make sure everything is clear and understandable. You can also divide roles and responsibilities to other people in the group. For example by assigning someone the role of taking notes during the dissussions. Some groups also decide to rotate the facilitator responsibility among everyone in the group. Just note that even if you decide to do this, you should still be the one who handles practical information and communication.
Recruit members
Sammen om en jobb launches new job networks the start of each semester. If you join as a facilitator at this stage, you will most likely receive a group from us, meaning you do not have to worry about the recruitment. If you instead chose to launch your own job network outside of this, or we are unable to find enough participants, the recruitment task falls on you. See more on how to recruit to your job network here.
